Afghanistan Earthquake Response

A severe earthquake and aftershocks have hit eastern Afghanistan. Entire communities in the valleys have lost almost everything from their families, homes, livestock, to critically vital water channels. We’re in active contact with coordination partners to understand where our presence adds value without adding risk. If a partner pulls and access opens, we move. If needs are covered or risk is too great, we stand down.

Readiness isn’t rhetoric. It’s a capability and with that there is a real cost. Your support powers our Responders training, kit, insurance and time that let our Recce Team move within hours when called, and easily stand down when it isn’t.

How we will use your support

Our humanitarian action is delivered through teams of volunteer Responders, who are highly trained and capable of operating effectively in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

Our decision to send volunteers will be entirely evidence-based. In the event that REACT chooses not to send volunteers to Afghanistan at this time, we will communicate that decision clearly. 

Donations will support REACT's humanitarian response to the Afghanistan Earthquake as part of our Rapid Response Fund. Any surplus funds will be used to support training, resourcing and equipment to prepare REACT to respond to future disasters. Thank you
